Finished Two Full Tactical Squads

Holy shit, whew!  Now I can finally relax.  I've got lots left to do, but the core of my force, two ten man tactical squads, is more or less complete.  I mean, I do still have to drill some barrels, do all the bases, touch a few things up, add decals... hmmm, fuck.

Well here they are anyway.

... I think I'm going to spend a few days painting my captain and pondering the meaning of life.

Weathering powder.....Whaaah?!

So I finally went for it and spent $20 at my local modeling store for Mig brand weathering powder. As the case always seems to be, I should have had this stuff from the beginning. It's pretty much like doing meticulous drybrushing without the "meticulous" or the time the "meticulous" takes.

Yeah these things aren't cheap ($8.99 apiece for the ones I got) but they look pretty amazing. I have " Black Smoke" which is a really dark charcoal grey and "Rubbel Dust" which makes my tanks look like they were in Berlin in 1945. The Rubbel color is an earthy medium grey. It's a good highlight color for my semi urban guard army.

Here's my executioner (yes all the weapons are magnetized).

Another few shots of the Executioner.

And here is the Battle tank variant.

All in all the stuff really completes my tanks, if you ever look at the stuff and want to try it but question your decision because it's too expensive, just buy it anyway it'll save you a lot of time and it will pay for itself in terms of how much extra time you can work on other models.

Bringing Sexy Back

Methodology for painting... blah, blah, blah.  Who gives a crap about that stuff?  You wanna know what people really want?  SEXY.  Thats right bitches, and what's sexy?  Painted Dark Angels.

Hold onto your shit.

The boys.

Full squad.

Sergeants.

Camera shy.

Librarian.

So that's it for now.  Thirteen tactical marines, two sergeants, and one librarian.  Fortunately I still have five assault marines, ten scouts, five more tactical marines, five sternguards, and a captain left...

Old terrain R.I.P. New Terrain, come on in!

In a way it was a good thing that my dog ate my cool downed fighter terrain, because I built this to replace it.

And this, a warehouse looking building whose purpose is yet to be defined.

And these, which will eventually be industrial looking water tank platforms. And the answer to your question is yes, I did destroy to rare and valuable vhs tapes to accomplish my goal. Nomore will anyone be able to enjoy the Kevin Costner classic "The Postman" or the shitstorm "Congo".

And whatever this thing will end up being. All I know is that I'm trying to build a city and these will all add to the clutter and congestion of my bombed out Hive.

New, Old, terrain

New terrain piece...

plus crazy dog..

equals...

Oh well, it was nice for the one game in which I was able to use it.

Some Terrain

So, I've finally got a pretty well rounded 1000 point army built and it's high time I get some terrain to match. I've been working on a few different projects:

Some Pegasus Craters.

This is the one I'm really proud of. I had scratch built some semblence of a cardboard Thunderbolt just for fun. After I got a fair bit of it completed I realized the scale was grossly off, and thought about just using it as a piece of terrain. Here is what I came up with.

Here is the general piece unfinished and unpainted,

And here is the finished product.

Considering it is made out of an old box of cereal, some sprue, wire and a piece of a five dollar plastic sign, I'm relatively pleased with the final product.
